So this is what an abandoned amusement park looks like

This is why you separate the roller coasters from the water park. What? Too soon for a Hurricane Katrina joke?

Six Flags New Orleans, which opened in 2000, has been shut down since it was flooded during Hurricane Katrina, yet most of the park remains behind. While some rides have been taken out, the park has largely been abandoned, and is now a sad reminder of the 2005 disaster. A gallery of the park can be seen here, and it's kinda cool/creepy looking at pictures of a place that has gone to such disrepair.

On a lighter note, Canada's Wonderland opens up again in a few weeks, and they've got a new ride (which is like a combination of the old-timey swing ride and Drop Zone). They got rid of Jet Scream (the rocket ship ride) to make it, but Jet Scream kinda sucked so it's okay. For the record, the best ride at Wonderland is the swinging ship - it's a classic, no lines, and if you sit in the right spot you can go weightless for like half a second. Behemoth can be number 2.
